Dental Crowns & Bridges in York, Toronto
A crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged tooth completely, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. A bridge uses the teeth on either side of a gap to carry a replacement tooth, closing the space without surgery.
Both are planned, prepared and fitted here at Jane Park Dental, so you deal with the same team from start to finish.
When a crown is the right choice
Crowns are recommended when a filling would no longer hold or protect the tooth.
- After a root canal, when the remaining tooth is brittle
- A cracked or split cusp
- A large old filling that keeps breaking down
- Heavily worn teeth from grinding
- To finish a dental implant
What a bridge involves
The neighbouring teeth are shaped to take crowns, we take a digital-quality impression, and a laboratory fabricates a single unit that fills the gap. You wear a temporary in between and leave the fitting appointment able to chew normally again.
Crown, bridge or implant?
For a single missing tooth an implant preserves the neighbouring teeth and is usually our first suggestion. A bridge is faster, needs no surgery and suits patients who are not candidates for implants or want to avoid a healing period. We lay out the timeline and cost of each before you decide.
