Emergency Dentist in York, Toronto

Dental pain rarely waits for a convenient day. We hold time each weekday morning and afternoon for urgent problems, so call as early as you can and we will get you seen and out of pain.

Phone (416) 767-6591 and describe what happened — we will tell you what to do in the meantime.

What counts as a dental emergency

  • Severe or throbbing toothache, especially with swelling
  • A knocked-out or loosened adult tooth
  • A broken, chipped or cracked tooth with sharp edges or pain
  • A lost filling or crown leaving the tooth exposed
  • Facial swelling, fever, or a bad taste suggesting an abscess
  • Bleeding that does not stop after an extraction

First aid before you reach us

Rinse with warm salt water and take your usual over-the-counter pain relief. For a knocked-out adult tooth, hold it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently and either place it back in the socket or keep it in milk — and get to us within the hour. Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek for swelling. Never place aspirin directly on the gum.

Facial swelling is urgent

Swelling that spreads toward the eye or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, needs a hospital emergency department immediately rather than a dental office.

Frequently asked questions

Do you see emergency patients who are not registered with you?

Yes. Call as early in the day as possible and we will do our best to fit you in during office hours, Monday to Thursday.

What do I do at night or on a Friday?

Leave us a message and manage the pain with over-the-counter relief and a cold compress. We return messages the next business morning. For severe swelling, fever or trouble breathing, go to the nearest emergency department.

How much does an emergency visit cost?

We start with an emergency exam and X-ray, then quote the treatment before doing it. Nothing proceeds without your go-ahead.
