Dental Hygiene & Teeth Cleaning in York, Toronto

A professional cleaning is the single most cost-effective dental appointment you can book. At Jane Park Dental our registered hygienists remove the hardened plaque (tartar) that a toothbrush cannot reach, then polish and, when helpful, apply fluoride to leave your teeth smooth and protected.

Most patients in York and the surrounding Mount Dennis, Weston and Junction neighbourhoods come in every six months. If you have a history of gum disease, smoke, or are managing diabetes, we may recommend a three or four month interval instead.

What happens during a hygiene appointment

We keep the pace comfortable and explain every step before it happens — there is no rushing and no lecturing.

  • A full check of your gums, including pocket depth measurements when needed
  • Ultrasonic and hand scaling to remove tartar above and below the gum line
  • Stain removal and polishing for a smoother, brighter surface
  • Fluoride application to strengthen enamel and reduce sensitivity
  • Personalised brushing and flossing coaching for the areas you actually miss

Signs you should book a cleaning sooner

Bleeding when you brush, persistent bad breath, receding gums or teeth that feel loose are all early signals of gum disease (gingivitis or periodontitis). Caught early it is reversible; left alone it is the leading cause of adult tooth loss.

Cost and insurance

Cleanings are covered by most Ontario dental plans and by the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). We bill your insurer directly wherever possible and always confirm your coverage and out-of-pocket amount before we begin.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Every six months suits most patients. If you have gum disease, heavy tartar build-up or a medical condition that affects healing, we may suggest every three to four months.

Does a dental cleaning hurt?

It should not. Sensitive teeth and inflamed gums can make cleaning uncomfortable, so tell us and we will slow down, use a topical numbing gel or freeze the area.

Do you accept the CDCP for cleanings?

Yes. Jane Park Dental accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan and bills it directly for eligible patients.
