Tooth-Coloured Dental Fillings in York, Toronto
A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been removed, sealing the cavity so bacteria cannot travel deeper toward the nerve. We use tooth-coloured composite resin, shade-matched to your natural enamel, so repairs are invisible even on front teeth.
Most fillings are completed comfortably in a single visit at our Jane Street office.
Composite fillings vs. old silver amalgam
Composite bonds directly to the tooth, which means less healthy structure has to be drilled away and the finished tooth is better supported. Unlike amalgam it contains no mercury and does not expand and contract with hot and cold food, a common cause of hairline cracks in older restorations.
- Matched to your natural tooth shade
- Bonded, so less drilling and a stronger result
- Mercury-free
- Usually completed in one appointment
Do I need a filling?
Early decay is often painless and only visible on a digital X-ray, which is why regular check-ups matter. Sensitivity to sweet, hot or cold food, a rough edge you can feel with your tongue, food repeatedly catching between two teeth, or a visible dark spot are all worth having looked at.
Aftercare
You can eat as soon as the freezing wears off. Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal. If the tooth feels high when you bite, call us — a two-minute adjustment fixes it.
